Barney Rubble

Barney Rubble is the ultimate Alarm fan. When I heard that he was making a trip to Los Angeles this April, I couldn’t pass up the chance to meet biggest Alarm fan ever, and the legendary creator of the Rubble Rap. We met at the Cat And The Fiddle, a famous musicians hangout in Hollywood, CA. We only talked for a short time, but I was struck by just how remarkable this man really is. He saw the Alarm over 200 times, and even made a few trips to the USA to follow the band around on the East Coast. Extremely personable and friendly, Mr. Rubble supplied me with a computer disk that contained most of the information on the following pages. I like to call this collection, The Rubble Files.

Barney’s Favorite Alarm Memory

“I have thought long and hard about what would be my favourite alarm moments in time (sorry for that!) and I suppose probably it would have to be the numerous times “performing” the rubble rap, from its earliest inception at the sea scouts hall in Cambridge (UK) with the band and crew clapping along as accompaniment, to The Marquee, treading the same boards as rock+roll legends, on the night before the lads left for their 1st U.S.. visit ,to the stage of Southampton Gaumont in front of my home town crowd, and at Toads Place in Newhaven Connecticut on my 1st U.S. trip,to universities and clubs home and abroad, where for a few minutes I could feel like a star! Who can ask for more than that? I have many more memories to tell of, but i guess it would take to long (and strain the grey matter to much! Thanks for the interest Steve, and I hope this helps. Look after yourself + keep up the good work!”
