Brighter Than The Sun – (Song)

Brighter Than The Sun was first released on the Blood Red album in 2017. A reworked studio version was released on the album Sigma in 2019. This main post covers the Blood red version, see Other Studio Versions below for the Sigma version. A very short demo snippet of a song then called Stronger but which was the music that was to become Brighter than the sun appeared as early as on the In session 2015 cd.

It came through challenging times you (Jules) were going through breast cancer, I had written a lot whilst you were in hospital having your surgery. I remember the day you were in the main surgery for 6 hours as I was pacing the corridor I just started to write all my feelings into my phone and just pouring it all into words and when you were recovering a while later and we were just sitting in the room, you asked me what did I do whilst you were in the surgery, I said I wrote all these words in my phone and Jules said that’s the start of the next album. I hadn’t really thought of it like that, I brought all the words back to the Chapel, laid them all out on the floor, did a bit of painting for some expression and thought where is the music in all of these words. It was probably the first real time where Alarm album came from the words first, often it is a melody or a chord sequence which stars the songs, but this was all words first. I found it quiet interesting where the words would dictate where the music would go. It was a refreshing experience – Mike Peters – Big Night In May 2022

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Tears fall from a rainbow
Stars collide in the sky
As the light of the day comes home
And the stars in your eyes shine

[Chorus]
Brighter than the sun
Stronger than the love we depend upon
Brighter than the sun

[Verse 2]
Close your eyes, it will blind you
Look away from the rays
As the light of the day comes home
And the stars in your eyes shine

[Chorus]
Brighter than the sun
Stronger than the love we depend upon
Brighter than the sun
Stronger than love we depend upon
Brighter than the sun
Brighter than the sun

[Outro]
Brighter, brighter than the sun
Brighter, brighter than the sun
Stronger than love, stronger than love
Stronger than love, stronger than love
Brighter, brighter, brighter
Brighter than the sun
Brighter, brighter, brighter
Brighter than the sun
Brighter than the sun
Brighter, brighter than the sun
Brighter than the sun
