Alarmstock III is a box set CD release of a day of performing in the world famous Abbey Road Studio in London, England on 6th August 2005. Starting at 12.00 midday 4 sets were performed with the final set commencing at 21.00 culminating in 60 songs being performed.

12.00 A beautiful summer’s day marked the arrival of Alarmstock 3 to the legendary Abbey Road Studios on Saturday 6th August 2005. Alarm fans from all four corners of the UK, America and Europe for this momentous day in Alarm history. Paul McCartney had been in the Studio for two days previously and so there was a hushed sense of excitement as MPO members registered collected their laminates and made their way into Studio 2. Mike Peters, looking tanned and fit, was clearly excited to be back in Studio 2, after his last visit with The Poets back in 1992 where he recorded the Abbey Road Sessions in front of an invited audience.
14.00 Studio 2 was bursting at the seams with an assembled throng of Alarm fans. The atmosphere was expectant and awe-struck. What would the day bring? Danny Cohen, long -time member of the MPO team made an introduction, explaining the need to switch phones off, remain quiet during the performance [Abbey Road Management had given strict instructions for noise levels to be held in check as there was another session taking place in Studio 1].
14.15 – Set 1 Declaration [Take This Song Of Freedom]
Mike Peters appeared at the top of the stairs leading down from the control room and took his place at the microphone where he had stood 23 years before when he first came to Abbey Road Studios a the tender age of 23 to record Declaration. It was fitting then that Mike opened with Declaration and Marching On. Behind Peters projected images were relayed from the original session. The studio is in virtual identical condition to when Mike and The Alarm recorded there back in 1983, having been kept this way to preserve the vibe from when The Beatles and George Martin worked there back in the 1960’s. Mike added to the authenticity of the day by playing Where Were You Hiding on Dave Sharp’s original 1982 Electro Acoustic Epiphone.

16.00 – Set 2 Scattered Across This Land
This set marked a fitting return to Mike’s history with the Poets of Justice. Many hidden gems were uncovered as Mike led his audience through the journey of his early tentative solo steps. Songs like What The World Can’t Give Me Tonight and Train A Comin’ resonated a special moment under the lights of Studio 2. Memories of the touring period from 1992 through to 1994 when Mike and The Poets, toured the length and breadth of the UK and the United States as well as a very special day at Abbey Road Studios in November 1992. The second set struck a chord with fans who stuck with Mike during his transition and departure from the original Alarm.

17.00 A welcome moment for rest and recuperation for all in Abbey Road canteen. Mike joined every member of the audience outside the studios and posed for a memorable snapshot photograph . Not a moment was wasted and in typical peters style, Mike made sure that a relay of 6 to 7 members of the audience were able to visit the control room where the Abbey Road engineer, Martin Wilding was working on the recordings of the day
19.00 A rejuvenated audience sat expectantly, listening to the sounds of The Beatles Sgt, Peppers’ Lonely Hearts Club Band.
19.15 – Set 3 A Fuse Has Been Lit In the House
Mike Peters returned to the atmospheric Studio 2 and delivered an awesome third set which featured songs that complimented Declaration which went on to become classic b sides. The temperature was rising and Mike surprised the audience with a rendition of classic covers from the early days; including a breathtaking Maggie May which morphed into The Beat’s Stand Down Margaret and Bob Dylan’s Maggie’s Farm.
In between sets and fans had the opportunity to browse the corridors of Abbey Road where photographs and album sleeves adorned the walls, giving a sense of perspective of the historic place, Many records which changed the face of music as we know it have been cut within these historic walls; Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Travis, Spencer Davis Group, Spice Girls, Coldplay, The Alarm!

21.00 – Set 4 Eight Thousand Went Down
Mike closed the day with an emotional and rousing singalong set. By this time, the session in Studio 1 had finished and the audience were encouraged to relax and sing out loud. This was encouraged by Mike personally, who joked that once Alarmstock 3 Abbey Road CD’s were released, each member of the audience could boast they had in fact recorded at Abbey Road Studios!! A perfect day fished with a perfect standing ovation. 5 hours of music and just over 60 songs later, Mike and the audience had ‘come together’ and made another special moment in Alarm history.
