Love Is A Revolution is a song written by Mike Peters which first appeared as a studio recording on the Breathe album released in October 1994.
One of the last songs written for ‘Breathe. Built around a simple revolving chord sequence but with a fairly complex guitar dominated arrangement; this song was not easy to capture in the studio. Once again, the song worked brilliantly on stage but once placed under the microscope of the finely balanced studio speakers it became clear that we needed to strip the electric guitar into sections, as different sounds would be required for different parts. We played live to capture a stirring bass and drum performance from Owen and Emyr and then Slug layered the guitars over the top. At least four different guitars were used for the recording and they all come together in the latter half of the song. Having the freedom to experiment in the studio is essential and in making this, my first record, as an independent artist, it was a relief not to have the corporate pressure of release deadlines. Instead, I had the time to stand back and evaluate artistic decisions properly and if I felt I’d made the wrong choice I could then go back and correct my mistake.
